The Root of Your Insecurity

Otherwise, it will keep growing out new branches. Giving you fake reprieve for a while only to show up when you least expect it.

Personally, my security is found in Jesus, who is the same yesterday today and forever. That foundation is solid.

So when the Bible says I am fearfully and wonderfully made, that statement rings true whether you agree with it or not. Meaning, your opinion of me has no real power over me.

And the Bible has all these truths about life. If you make them your foundation, you will be pleasantly surprised at how unbothered you will be about what others say or do.

Because unlike man, God does not change His mind. With man, what was in yesterday, loses worth tomorrow. What was acceptable very quickly becomes taboo. How do you keep up?

What's your anchor? What keeps you standing regardless? What do you lean on?

When I experienced bullying in high school and ended up depressed and highly suicidal, it is the Word of God that kept me safe. Jeremiah 29:11 and Romans 12:2

I spoke those verses over my life every night, as I cried myself to self. As I thought taking my own life would finally give me peace, those two verses bed me together. They were my lifeline. They kept me alive.

And it's not that I was not scarred by the entire experience. I was, badly. I had to go a lot of work to heal me and get myself to a healthy and safe space mentally. But I was alive. I made it through, albeit crawling, I made it through. And if I did not have Jesus, I don't know. That's just my story.

To me, Jesus is the firm foundation.

And anytime I find myself doubting myself, I always go back to what the Bible has to say about me as a child of God. I say those words over me and they wash away any kind of insecurity I may be experiencing.

I know we often say that life doesn't have a manual. I low-key think the Bible is the manual. At least it works for me.
